Heavy Rain Hits Bangkok Causing Flooding on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Severe Traffic Congestion in All Lanes Route Diversion Advised

Bangkok is severely impacted by heavy afternoon rain, causing flooding on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Traffic is heavily congested with all lanes full. Travelers are advised to avoid this route if in a hurry and to allow extra travel time.

On 1 May 2026, reporters noted that heavy rain fell across many areas of Bangkok from about 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Particularly at 1:30 PM, the Bangkok Flood Prevention Center reported light to moderate rain in Bang Sue, Chatuchak, Laksi, Don Mueang, Bang Khen, Lat Phrao, Khlong Sam Wa, Sai Mai, Min Buri, and Nong Chok districts, moving northwest.

As a result, traffic in these areas became difficult as vehicles moved slowly. Meanwhile, many areas experienced flooding awaiting drainage, especially on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

A Facebook user named"Sergeant Doesn't Care, Won't Survive"posted photos and videos reporting the heavy rain at various times. At 1:18 PM, they stated: Today there is heavy rain; please avoid Vibhavadi Road inbound near the PTT gas station in Laksi, near the highway police checkpoint turning left to Ramintra - Min Buri, and the main lanes in front of Phait Udom Suksa School.

At 3:09 PM: Warning!!! Road users are advised to avoid Vibhavadi Rangsit Road inbound due to heavy rain causing flooding that cannot drain quickly. Conditions are severe, with the tailback near Thupa area. The flooded point is improving, and traffic is expected to return to normal in about 30 minutes.

At 3:17 PM: All lanes are fully congested. If urgent, use the elevated route via Laksi and Chaeng Watthana. The cause is construction along the canal development line affecting drainage. All officials are working to resolve the issue and will reopen traffic as soon as possible.

At 3:44 PM, the Laksi District Office reported that continuous rain in the area caused flooding on Chaeng Watthana Road at the entrance to Soi Chaeng Watthana 10 and in front of Big C Chaeng Watthana. Officials urgently addressed the problem by deploying water pumps and clearing debris from drainage grates to speed water removal. As of 3:15 PM, water levels have receded to normal.
