9 May 2026 GMT+7 The Meteorological Department Issued Announcement No. 8 regarding unstable weather over Thailand (effective until 10 May 2026) stating that the North, Northeast, East, Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will experience thunderstorms with strong gusty winds and heavy rain in some locations. Afterwards, temperatures will ease due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass spreading from China covering the Northeast and the South China Sea, combined with southerly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea over upper Thailand.
Easterly winds covering the South and the Gulf of Thailand are strengthening, causing heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of the South.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong gusty winds by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, fragile structures, and unstable billboards. They should also be wary of hazards from heavy and accumulated rainfall which may cause flash floods and flash floods from mountain runoff. Farmers are advised to reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect agricultural products and livestock from possible damage. Additionally, people should take care of their health during this changing weather period.
