The Meteorological Department has issued Warning No. 1 for heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds in the Andaman Sea area. Check the list of affected provinces from 14-18 May 2026.
Date: 13 May 2026 GMT+7Meteorological DepartmentAnnouncement regarding heavy to very heavy rain over Thailand and strong winds in the Andaman Sea, Warning No. 1 (61/2569), effective from 14-18 May 2026.
It states that from 14-18 May 2026, Thailand will experience increased rainfall with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of the North, Central, East, and South regions.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. This is due to a strong low-pressure system moving from the lower Bay of Bengal to the upper Bay of Bengal, combined with an intensifying southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen. Between 14-18 May 2026, waves in the Andaman Sea will be 2–3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. In the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will be about 2 meters high, rising above 2 meters in thunderstorm zones.
Sea vessel operators in these areas should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore during this period.
