A deeply saddening event "Jedi" Golden Retriever celebrity of the "Jum Meng" family The Japan and Friends page announced the passing of "Jedi" after battling vascular cancer
On 23 May 2026, fans and the online community were saddened when theJapan and Friendspage shared news of the passing of "Hia Jedi," the eldest dog of the household and a member of the "Jum Meng" family, after struggling with vascular cancer.
They stated, "Today before the journey, Pan decided to tell him not to worry about me, that I would be okay, because every day Pan told Jedi, 'Please don't go yet, give me a little more time...'
But today Pan felt she could no longer be selfish. Our intention was to avoid seeing him in pain or suffering. Even prolonging his life was too much—just seeing him unable to move for a moment was unbearable.
Jedi said he wanted to listen to 'Ode to Joy.'
As soon as Pan played that song, Jedi began to shut down... It was the last song we listened to together.
If possible, please don't be reborn, my son. Go be a little angel."
Previously, "Khun Pan," the page owner, posted about Jedi's illness in early March, explaining that Jedi had vascular cancer (Hemangiosarcoma). Statistically, after surgery, dogs usually survive 2–4 months; chemotherapy might extend this by 2–3 months.
After researching and consulting several vets, she decided against chemotherapy because the treatment is harsh. It destroys both good and bad cells, potentially causing Jedi pain and deterioration. She did not want him to suffer that way, so she kept updating his condition until the sad news deeply affected followers.
"Jedi," often called "Hia Jedi," was a Golden Retriever and the eldest dog of the household. The owner originally got him as a companion for their first dog, "Japan." After Japan passed away from heart disease, they brought in "Jai Dee" as another playmate, and later there was "Jum Meng," who is Jai Dee's offspring.
Jedi was known for his calm and unique personality. Although he liked to rest quietly and sometimes ignored calls, he was warm and lovable in his own way, becoming a beloved figure to many, alongside the other household dogs.
