Department of Disease Control Addresses Issue of Inappropriate Live Stream Viewing, Investigates to Prevent Recurrence

The Department of Disease Control clarified the case where its official page viewed a trending online clip, which led to negative public criticism of the agency. It is currently investigating the details of the incident and reviewing measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Today (24 May 2026), the Department of Disease Control disclosed that an inappropriate clip was circulated on social media, and their official page had viewed it. Initial investigation showed that on 23 May 2026, at about 10:00 p.m., the page admin was sharing an infographic about "Ebola virus disease: 10 questions and Thailand’s entry measures for travelers from risk areas." Later, at 10:34 p.m., the admin checked the page's Inbox and found a warning message stating, "Please check this live stream; it may be harmful to children and youth due to inappropriate sexual content." Upon clicking the link, the admin found the clip contained inappropriate material and exited the system. Meanwhile, other users saw this, captured screenshots, and widely shared them, resulting in negative criticism of the agency.

The Department of Disease Control will promptly continue investigating the details of the incident, while reviewing monitoring measures and the usage of official accounts to prevent similar events in the future. The department reaffirmed its commitment to uphold communication standards of government agencies, appropriate use of social media, and maintaining public trust.
