
The Meteorological Department has issued its first warning, forecasting very heavy rainfall in Thailand. Check the list of provinces expected to be impacted from 28 May to 1 June 2026.
Dated 27 May 2026 GMT+7.The Meteorological Department.Announced the first bulletin regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand and strong waves in the Andaman Sea, effective from 28 May to 1 June 2026.
It stated that between 28 May and 1 June 2026, the southern and eastern regions will see increased rainfall, with heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some locations.
Meanwhile, the northern, northeastern, and central regions will experience heavy rain from 29 May to 1 June 2026. This is due to the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand with relatively strong winds, along with a monsoon trough passing through upper Thailand.
Residents in Thailand are advised to prepare for dangers from heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in areas near watercourses and lowlands.
Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will be quite strong. The upper Andaman Sea, from Phuket province northward, will have waves 2–3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. The lower Andaman Sea, from Krabi province southward, and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, with waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these areas should navigate with caution.
Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should avoid leaving the shore during this period, especially in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
