27 May 2026: Invitation to Watch Spica Star Beside the Moon After Sunset

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) announces today, 27 May 2026, an invitation to observe the "Spica star beside the moon" which can be seen in the southeastern sky after the sun sets below the horizon.

FacebookNARIT, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailandposted a message stating, "The astronomical calendar for 27 May 2026 notes the star beside the moon event, with Spica next to the moon observable in the southeastern sky after sunset until 3:00 a.m."

The star beside the moon phenomenon is a recurring astronomical event because the moon and planets continuously change positions as they orbit the sun.

Therefore, the moon and planets appearing in the same part of the sky or moving into close proximity is normal and can be explained by scientific principles."
