The 11 Scottish Fold cats auctioned off by the Sakaeo Animal Quarantine Office have been taken in for care at a price of about 48,000 baht.
. The Sakaeo Animal Quarantine Officean agency under the Department of Livestock Development, intended to sell 11 seized Scottish Fold cats by auction, which has drawn significant attention on social media.
Regarding this matter, recently (28 May 2026) Mr. Kitthipoom Bamrungna, a scientist at the Sakaeo Animal Quarantine Office revealed that the auction concluded at 11:00 a.m., with the winner taking all 11 Scottish Fold cats for care at approximately 48,000 baht.
The 11 Scottish Fold cats put up for auction were originally found on 5 May 2026 when a special task force from the Sakaeo Animal Quarantine Office, together with Ranger Company 1301 (Chak. Tp.13), patrolled to prevent and intercept illegal activities in their area near Khlong Nam Sai at Ban Phan Suek Zone 2, Village 3, Phan Suek Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sakaeo Province. They detected a group crossing Khlong Nam Sai about 10 meters into the kingdom. When the officers identified themselves, the group abandoned items and fled back across the border into Cambodia. Among the items left behind were three mixed-breed Scottish Fold cats, with no one claiming ownership.
Earlier, on 28 April 2026, the Burapha Task Force, Aranyaprathet Special Task Force, and Ranger Unit 12, led by Ranger Company 1206, patrolled to prevent and intercept illegal activities in their area. They found a bag left in the bushes by the border canal about 300 meters from Highway 3366 near Ban Thung Ruang Thong, Village 9, Khlong Nam Sai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sakaeo Province (near the main temple of Wat Lakham). Inside the bag were eight live cats, with no one claiming ownership.
