Bank of Thailand Announces Additional Special Holiday for 2026: One Day in Bangkok

"Bank of Thailand" Announces an additional special holiday on Friday, 16 October 2026, in the Bangkok metropolitan area for one day.


On 9 June 2026, the Bank of Thailand announced the following: "Additional Financial Institution Holidays for 2026" It stated that following the Cabinet's resolution on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, a special public holiday is set for the Bangkok area for one day, namely:

  • Friday, 16 October 2026.

Additionally, government agencies in Bangkok are to work from home for three days, as follows:

  • Monday, 12 October 2026,
  • Wednesday, 14 October 2026,
  • and Thursday, 15 October 2026.

This arrangement aims to facilitate travel and ensure the safety of the Minister of Finance and central bank governors from member countries attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

After consideration, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) deems it appropriate to add a special holiday for financial institutions and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok on Friday, 16 October 2026. These institutions may adjust operations as necessary if essential duties or cancellations would cause service disruption to the public.

The BOT also requests cooperation from financial and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok to consider work-from-home arrangements for departments not serving the public on Monday, 12 October 2026, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, and Thursday, 15 October 2026. This is to facilitate the smooth and efficient conduct of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
