The Ministry of Public Health warns parents of young children to be cautious of hand, foot, and mouth disease. This illness often spreads during the school reopening period. They advise checking for danger signs and emphasize the necessity of washing hands with soap, stating that alcohol-based sanitizers are ineffective.

Main symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease

  • include fever,
  • sore throat,
  • mouth ulcers,
  • and clear blisters on the hands and feet.

To prevent hand, foot, and mouth disease, one must wash hands with water and soap only (alcohol gel sanitizers are ineffective), screen children before school entry, and regularly clean toys.

Danger signs include lethargy, difficulty breathing, and vomiting in children, requiring immediate hospital care and close monitoring for the safety of the children.
