Nong Moo Daeng, Pet Dog of Princess Siribhachudhabhorn, Dies Suddenly from Acute Kidney Failure

Mourning “Nong Moo Daeng,” the convenience store dog taken in by Princess Siribhachudhabhorn, who passed away suddenly from acute kidney failure. Local residents are saddened but believe the dog has moved on to a better realm.

A reporter reported that on 9 Jun 2026, the Facebook page "The Fund of His Royal Highness Prince Siribhachudhabhorn" posted a message to inform fans and followers of Nong Moo Daeng that the dog has departed. Nong Moo Daeng, the convenience store dog taken in by His Royal Highness Prince Siribhachudhabhorn from Korat, passed away suddenly due to cardiac arrest. The veterinarian did everything possible to save him from acute kidney failure. Despite dialysis treatment, his body did not respond, and he passed away peacefully on the morning of 8 June 2026. They thanked everyone who loved and cared for Nong Moo Daeng.

They asked everyone who cares for pets, whether cats or dogs, to feed them appropriate food. Foods safe for humans can sometimes harm pets’ health, causing diseases especially kidney disease. Since Nong Moo Daeng came to live with His Royal Highness Prince Siribhachudhabhorn, he was given controlled, beneficial food and special kidney-disease dog food. However, it was still too late. Nevertheless, Nong Moo Daeng lived happily until the very last moment.

Later, the page posted a message quoting His Royal Highness Prince Siribhachudhabhorn, who said, “Nong Moo Daeng greets everyone who has followed him and apologizes for not informing you personally. Yesterday, I was not in a state to do anything. I hadn’t eaten or slept for two full days and couldn’t stop crying. I apologize for being unable to save my dear one’s life.”

He explained that the kidney condition had developed from eating human food before, with no symptoms during checkups, and only recently abnormal kidney values appeared. He had to limit treats and feed only kidney-disease-specific food, which Nong Moo Daeng found frustrating. Suddenly, his kidney values spiked without warning. He stayed with him throughout, and one morning as they were waking up to feed him, the dog arched his back and vomited while lying with him, showing symptoms of illness. He rushed him to the hospital where doctors prescribed seven days of dialysis. He worried every day, prepared his bed, pillow, and blanket waiting for him to come home, made merit, and prayed for his safety, but fate was not on his side.

From the moment he received the doctor’s call until the moment he typed this, he had not eaten and could not stop crying. He loves this dog very much. Now, the one suffering most is this mother, who feels like she is living hell. He thanked everyone who cared for Nong Moo Daeng and said the dog surely knows this.

A reporter visited the spot where Nong Moo Daeng used to sleep in front of the convenience store and found that local residents knew about the dog’s death and felt sad about the loss of this intelligent dog. Many believe that Nong Moo Daeng has completed his karmic cycle and has gone to a better realm.

Mr. Somnuek Wisetnok, 54, a fried banana vendor, said, “Nong Moo Daeng often slept in front of the convenience store. Local people and schoolchildren regularly brought food for him because he was well-behaved, not aggressive, and familiar with the neighborhood. I was one of those who always brought him food and water. When I heard he passed away from kidney failure, I was shocked and very sad because I was attached to him for a long time. But I believe he has gone to a good place now. I wish him peace.”

Mrs. Wiraporn Ramrit, a vendor selling stewed pork leg rice, said, “I am shocked and very saddened because I used to feed him food and water regularly. I was also very happy when Princess Siribhachudhabhorn took Nong Moo Daeng under her care, giving him a better life. I didn’t expect him to leave so soon, but I believe now he has gone to a better place and no longer has to suffer as before.”
