Hia Momar Admits Slapping DJ Due to Heavy Drunkenness Former Police Advisory Board Member Who Has Since Resigned

Hia Momar admitted to slapping the DJ, explaining he mistook him for a DJ he knew. He was once a police advisory board member but has since resigned. He is trying to apologize and offer compensation, but the other party refuses to talk.

Update: Mr. Phatthara, 34, from Bangkok, filed a complaint with investigators at Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station at 02:44 on 14 June 2026 after being slapped three times on the head by a 56-year-old male tourist from Khon Kaen while working as a DJ at a nightclub in Khon Kaen city.

When filing the complaint, he noticed a photo of the accused displayed on the wall at Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, showing a position as a police advisory board member there. After the complaint, police contacted the accused to give statements to investigators. The chief of Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station confirmed that fairness will be given to all parties and the case will be handled based on evidence.Read more: DJ files complaint after being slapped on the head by an aggressive man upset over slow birthday song playback.)

Most recently, at 14:30 on 16 June 2026, reporters followed up on the case as police said the advisory board member would meet investigators.

Upon inquiry, the advisory board member, known as Hia Momar (alias), who is the man who slapped the DJ whose photo and nameplate are displayed on the left side of the entrance to Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, stated in a phone interview that he thought the DJ was an acquaintance because he is a frequent club-goer who knows many DJs. He said he slapped the DJ because he was heavily intoxicated and wanted to celebrate a birthday at his table. He asked the MC, whom he knew, to give birthday wishes and play the song.

He said he repeatedly asked for the song to be played, but the MC told him the DJ refused. Frustrated by the delay, he walked over and slapped the DJ as shown in the video, believing the DJ was a local. Once he realized the DJ was hired by the venue and not local, it was too late. He has tried to apologize and offer compensation, but the DJ refuses to talk and instead filed a complaint. He believes the DJ's complaint is not about pressing charges but seeking fame to become a well-known DJ, which he feels has been achieved.

Hia Momar also said that when he said, “Do you know me?” he assumed the DJ was local and would know him, insisting he was not being arrogant nor using his advisory board position to intimidate. He clarified he resigned from the advisory board in December 2025 due to bankruptcy and depression, and has no current involvement. The photo remains displayed only because it has not been removed. To avoid sinking further, he said he goes out every night, and everyone knows him well.

He reiterated that he does not deny wrongdoing and admits he was wrong but misunderstood the situation thinking he knew the DJ. He has tried to apologize and offer compensation, but the DJ refuses to talk. He has also tried to communicate through others, but the DJ only wants to handle the matter through the police. He is unsure what else to do and says the process will proceed accordingly.

Meanwhile, Pol. Col. Yosawat Kaewsuebtanich, chief of Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, said that after the victim filed a complaint, police are investigating the assault charge against the man who slapped the DJ at a nightclub in Khon Kaen city. The accused was contacted and asked to meet investigators but requested a postponement due to health issues and plans to meet police the following day.
