
"Chulalongkorn University" Has leapt to 19th place worldwide as the only sustainable university from Thailand, also ranking in the Top 10 in Asia and Top 5 in ASEAN.
On 25 June 2026, reports stated that in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, which ranks universities driving sustainability and high social impact, Chulalongkorn University secured 19th place globally, climbing 24 spots from 2025.
Moreover, Chulalongkorn remains the only Thai university in the global Top 20, Top 10 in Asia, and Top 5 in ASEAN, holding Thailand’s number one spot for two consecutive years.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 (formerly THE Impact Rankings), announced on 24 June 2026, assess the role of higher education institutions worldwide in promoting sustainability and delivering significant social impact, aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, Chulalongkorn improved its ranking from last year, excelling notably in SDGs related to Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), and Life Below Water (SDG 14), which focuses on sustainable use and conservation of oceans and marine resources.
Besides Chulalongkorn at 19th globally, other Thai universities in the global Top 100 include Thammasat University (46th), Walailak University (47th), Chiang Mai University (49th), Mahidol University (56th), Prince of Songkla University (81st), and Khon Kaen University (91st). The THE Impact Ratings 2026 evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries, covering all 17 SDG targets and overall rankings.
