OBEC Explains Update to Assistant Teacher List, Emphasizes Fairness and Restoring Rights of Successful Candidates

OBEC explains reason for updating the list "Assistant Teacher" (special case) for 2026, emphasizing corrections for fairness, restoring rights to successful candidates, and promptly remedying those affected after discovering the university's exam printing system swapped exam sets.

On 27 June 2026, the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) stated that following reports on social media regarding the Secondary Education Service Area Office Samut Prakan's announcement to cancel the original list of successful assistant teacher candidates for special cases in 2026 (dated 17 June 2026) and to replace it with a new list (dated 25 June 2026), which has affected some individuals,

OBEC expressed concern for those affected and immediately coordinated with the Secondary Education Service Area Office Samut Prakan to verify the facts. Initially, the education office was informed by the university responsible for preparing and grading the exams that a technical error occurred during printing. Some exam sets were damaged during printing, and the printing house repaired them, resulting in the content of the Section B exam (academic knowledge related to education) being swapped. This caused the initial score processing to deviate from the actual results.

After the university detected this error, it promptly rechecked and thoroughly reprocessed all scores. This resulted in many candidates receiving higher scores according to the correct criteria, increasing the number of candidates passing the overall score threshold. Consequently, the earlier announcement (dated 17 June 2026) was canceled and replaced with the new list (dated 25 June 2026) to ensure everyone's scores are accurate, truthful, and that fairness is maximized.

The education office has explained the situation to those affected and ensured they understand it. Meanwhile, the hiring and appointment processes will continue as decided by the Education Service Area Committee meeting held on 24 June 2026.

OBEC affirms that this list revision aims to protect the interests of all candidates in line with good governance principles, ensuring accuracy, transparency, accountability, and fairness, in accordance with the Ministry of Education's policies and OBEC’s strict working principles. Candidates with further questions may contact the Secondary Education Service Area Office Samut Prakan during official working hours.
