Wat Benchamabophit Secondary School has requested cooperation in conserving energy by turning off electrical appliances immediately when not in use and stopping the charging of power banks, after the school accumulated an electricity bill debt exceeding 3.1 million baht.
On 8 Jul 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that the Facebook page of Wat Benchamabophit Secondary School posted an image of the school's electricity expense account along with a message stating that on 6 Jul, the school paid an electricity bill totaling 116,993.25 baht. This payment was a partial settlement since the school did not have enough funds to cover the full amount; they divided the payment as available at that time. For May 2026, 50,000 baht was paid, with the remainder covering the outstanding debt from December 2024. In the past 26 days, the school has paid a total of 643,324.40 baht, leaving an outstanding debt with the Electricity Authority of 3,191,216.72 baht (three million one hundred ninety-one thousand two hundred sixteen baht and seventy-two satang). This payment arrangement provides some breathing room until January 2027 GMT+7, when legal action could be pursued again.
Regarding the outstanding electricity charges for 2025, the school continues to ask for cooperation in saving electrical and other forms of energy as before—reducing and stopping usage when not needed or when no one is present. They urge everyone to turn off electrical appliances immediately when not in use and to avoid charging power banks. Importantly, the school is still accepting donations at all times, welcoming all support and useful advice with sincerity in their serious efforts to resolve this issue.
