From 1 Aug: Samut Prakan Hospital Announces Fee for Non-Emergency Patients Outside Office Hours

Samut Prakan Hospital has announced it will charge a "medical service fee" outside regular hours for "non-emergency patients" seeking care at the emergency department, starting 1 August. The hospital also disclosed the symptoms qualifying patients for exemption from this fee.

On 9 July 2026, the Facebook pageof Samut Prakan Hospitalposted a statement saying, "Announcement from Samut Prakan Hospital regarding medical service fees (outside regular hours for non-emergency patients) to enable the hospital to provide efficient patient care and properly manage personnel and equipment resources.

The medical service fee is 150 baht per visit for non-emergency patients who receive emergency room services outside regular hours (all health coverage types). This fee is non-reimbursable and will be effective from 1 August 2026 onward.

This policy complies with the Ministry of Public Health's announcement and letter dated 23 January 2025 on service fees for units under the Ministry of Public Health for the year 2025.

We hereby announce and publicize this for general awareness. We thank everyone for their cooperation."

Medical service fee outside regular hours (for non-emergency patients)

150 baht per visit for non-emergency patients receiving emergency department services between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. This fee is non-reimbursable and excludes other charges according to health coverage. Effective from 1 August 2026 onward.

Exemption: Emergency patient cases

According to the Emergency Medical Act 2008, an "emergency patient" refers to someone with illness or injury threatening life or vital organs requiring urgent treatment, such as:

Emergency symptoms and other severe conditions

  • Cardiac arrest
  • Unconsciousness
  • Cyanosis (bluish skin)
  • Severe respiratory distress
  • Seizures
  • Foreign object obstructing airway
  • Critical trauma from accidents

Other severe conditions  

  • Profuse uncontrollable bleeding
  • Severe dehydration
  • Critical high fever
  • Poisoning from chemicals, animal venom, or drug overdose
  • Weakness in arms or legs, facial drooping
  • Accident within the past 24 hours

Patients meeting the above emergency criteria will not be charged the service fee.
