Student Loan Fund Explains Automatic Account Deductions Are Contractual and Apply Only to Borrowers with Overdue Payments

The Student Loan Fund clarified that the "Auto Debit" deduction carried out on 8 July complies with the conditions set forth in loan contracts and applies only to "borrowers" who have reached their repayment due date and have outstanding debts, totaling 74,337 accounts.

On 9 July 2026 GMT+7, the official Facebook page of the Student Loan Fund posted a message titled "Student Loan Fund Clarifies Automatic Account Deduction (Auto Debit) Applies Only to Borrowers with Overdue Debt According to Loan Agreement Terms."

The post explained that in response to borrowers posting on social media about automatic deductions from their savings accounts for debt repayment on 8 July 2026, the Student Loan Fund clarified that this procedure was an automatic debit for borrowers who had reached their repayment due date and had outstanding debt balances, as specified in the loan agreements.

Ms. Anchalee Purivitwatthana, Deputy Manager acting as Manager of the Student Loan Fund, revealed that since 5 July of every year is the annual repayment deadline for borrowers, the Fund expects borrowers to repay their debts themselves. If a borrower fails to repay or pays incompletely, the Fund will proceed with automatic deductions (Auto Debit) from the borrower's savings account used for living expense transfers, in accordance with the loan contract terms. This year, the Fund conducted automatic deductions on 8 July 2026 from 74,337 accounts belonging to borrowers who had reached their repayment due date and had outstanding balances.

The funds collected through these deductions will be recycled to provide educational opportunities for the next generation of students, helping underprivileged Thai youth access education and build a stable future continuously.
