Check Detour Routes as Prachatipok Road Closes from Ban Khaek Intersection to Wongwian Yai

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issues a Cell Broadcast alert about a traffic closure. " Prachatipok Road " from Ban Khaek Intersection to Wongwian Yai to repair the metro tunnel, along with detour routes and travel advice.

Update on the water leakage into the metro tunnel under construction near Wongwian Yai intersection on the Purple Line project, approximately 30 meters below road level at Wongwian Yai intersection, part of the Purple Line extension from Tao Poon to Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road), contract 4, between Phuttha Bridge and Dao Khanong, as previously reported.

On 10 Jul 2026 at 04:30, Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, informed the public and road users to avoid Prachatipok Road from Ban Khaek Intersection to Wongwian Yai due to a traffic closure facilitating repairs to the Purple Line metro tunnel and road surface improvements. Traffic plans have been coordinated with Metropolitan Police Division 8 and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration as follows.

Routes from the Phra Nakhon side to Wongwian Yai.

Those using Phra Pok Klao or Phuttha Bridges are advised to turn left onto Somdet Chao Phraya Road, then use Khlong San Intersection to Charoen Nakhon Road and onto Charoen Rat Road to reach Wongwian Yai or Taksin areas.

  • Alternative options (if you have not crossed the river yet).

It is recommended to use Rama 3 Bridge or Krungthep Bridge, then connect to Ratchada-Tha Phra Road to enter Wongwian Yai from the south.

Routes from Thonburi side to Ban Khaek Intersection from Wongwian Yai.

Use the Lat Ya Road exit heading toward Khlong San Intersection, then turn left onto Somdet Chao Phraya Road to access Phra Pok Klao or Phuttha Bridges.

  • Alternative option if heading toward Sathorn.

Use Krung Thon Buri Road to cross Taksin Bridge, or if going toward Pinklao, use Inthraphithak Road to reach Charansanitwong Road.

- The public is advised to plan travel in advance and avoid routes passing through Wongwian Yai Intersection.

- It is recommended to use the BTS Skytrain at Wongwian Yai or Krung Thon Buri stations.

- Allow at least 30 to 45 minutes extra travel time.

- Follow posted detour signs and instructions from officials strictly.

In the morning, to facilitate traffic, the Department will send notifications via Cell Broadcast to local residents to ensure safety and reduce traffic impact in the area, which includes educational institutions and main routes connecting to the Phra Nakhon side.
