A rider recounted the moment he clapped at a smoker inside a car who extended his hand outside the window after sparks flew into his eyes, also hitting his girlfriend. He insisted he had no intention to harm anyone, only wanting to prevent danger to other road users and passersby.
On 10 July 2026, a Facebook user posted a clip showing an incident where a motorcycle rider approached a luxury car, then reached out to clap the hand of a passenger who had extended their hand outside the car window. The rider also scolded the passenger for their smoking behavior, which sparked public criticism online.
Recently, reporters spoke with Mr. Big, 29, a passenger delivery rider who appeared in the clip. He said the incident occurred on 1 July but he only decided to share the video after much reflection, hoping it would serve as a warning to society.
Mr. Big explained that at the time, he was riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend in the Sala Daeng–Silom area. Ahead was a black Toyota with the left passenger lowering the window and holding a cigarette, apparently about to put it out. However, the passenger extended his hand far outside the car, causing sparks and cigarette ash to fly into Mr. Big's eyes and those of his girlfriend. Startled and concerned for their safety, he approached and clapped the hand holding the cigarette to make it drop, then reprimanded the behavior.
Mr. Big apologized if his actions seemed harsh but insisted he meant no harm, only wanting to prevent danger to other road users. He urged smokers to find appropriate places to smoke and avoid extending cigarettes outside car windows, as sparks or ash could fly onto others and cause accidents. He noted he had encountered such smoking behavior before and sometimes warned people at intersections, but this time, with sparks directly hitting his eyes, he felt it should not be ignored.
