Social media mourns “Tar Thailom,” a volunteer who was fatally struck by a vehicle while helping a driver who had fallen into a canal in Phetchabun Province.
On 12 July 2026, reporters noted that online communities expressed condolences over the death of Mr. Kittisak Kongkham, known as Tar, aged 39, from Nam Chun subdistrict, Lom Sak district, Phetchabun province, who was hit by a pickup truck while assisting an accident victim.
The incident occurred around 15:50 on 10 July 2026, involving a bronze Toyota Vigo pickup truck with Phetchabun license plates, traveling from Khao Kho along the Phitsanulok-Lom Sak road toward Lom Sak district. Upon reaching the second Wang Bon dam bridge in Nam Chun subdistrict, Lom Sak district, during rainy and slippery conditions, the vehicle lost control, struck a guardrail, and plunged into the canal beneath the bridge.
Mr. Kittisak Kongkham, known as Tar, who lived nearby and witnessed the accident, ran across the road with two relatives to provide assistance. After helping the victim and while climbing out of the canal, a bronze Isuzu D-Max pickup truck from Khon Kaen lost control on the same road and veered off, striking Mr. Kittisak as he was climbing up, causing severe injuries.
Rescue volunteers from Kok Sai Lom Sak arrived at the scene and transported the injured to Lom Sak Hospital, but Mr. Kittisak later died, deeply grieving his family and acquaintances. He was a dedicated volunteer who consistently helped society and was the owner of the Thailom herbal brand, an OTOP product from Phetchabun, as well as a volunteer instructor teaching communities how to make herbal balms, ointments, and toothpaste, providing jobs and income for elderly residents.
Mr. Kittisak’s body was brought by relatives to Prachum Kongkharam Temple in Lom Sak subdistrict, Lom Sak district, Phetchabun province, where a water-pouring funeral rite was held at 13:00 on 11 July 2026. A Buddhist prayer service was scheduled daily at 19:30 from 11 to 15 July 2026, with the cremation ceremony set for 16 July 2026 at 16:00 at the temple’s crematorium.
Ms. Petchnapa Kongkham, 43, the deceased’s older sister and one of the three who ran to help the accident victims, revealed that this location is a frequent accident site, especially during rainy weather. Whenever accidents occur, if Mr. Kittisak was home, he would promptly go out to assist, calling authorities, directing traffic to prevent secondary accidents, and helping the injured where possible. This incident was no different.
When the accident happened, Mr. Kittisak, along with Ms. Petchnapa and her nephew—three people in total—ran to assist. They found the injured party had minor injuries and helped them up to safety. As Mr. Kittisak was climbing out, another vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and struck him violently, throwing him into rocks below. He suffered severe injuries and later died at the hospital.
