Popular Page Suggests Source of Cyanide in Victims of Lat Phrao Brewery Fire Matches Material in Squishy Toys

The popular page "Drama-addict" suggests the cyanide found in the bodies of victims from the Lat Phrao brewery fire comes from the same source as that in "squishy" toys. The page advises to stop playing with them and never burn them!

On 17 Jul 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that autopsy results of those who died in the Lat Phrao brewery fire showed the presence of carbon monoxide and cyanide in their bodies, which, if inhaled in large amounts, could cause death within four minutes, as previously reported.

Meanwhile, the Facebook page "Drama-addict" by Ja Phichit posted comments on this matter, stating, "According to the news that cyanide was detected in the bodies of those who died in the brewery fire, it is believed to have been caused by the burning of polyurethane foam used as cheap soundproofing panels, not the fire-retardant grade. The burning of this material releases cyanide gas, which, when inhaled, causes oxygen deprivation and death shortly after."

What you should know is that this polyurethane foam is the same material used to make the popular squishy toys spreading across the country now. So, if anyone is tired of these toys, please do not burn them; it will cause serious harm."

After this post was shared widely, many people commented, such as: "How should we dispose of these? This is serious for someone who cares about the environment. I have one that smells so strong like bread that when I bit it, it tasted very bitter—I had to spit it out. I wonder about stray dogs biting such waste in the trash—how would that affect them?" Others said, "I tried squeezing it and the plastic smell stuck to my hands," "If trash from many homes is burned in open fields in rural areas, is that dangerous for local residents?" and "I'm glad I'm not into these things," among other remarks.
