The Department of Land Transport advises those registered for the 2026 state welfare card who do not meet the "excess vehicle ownership" criteria to promptly submit an appeal and check their registration data free of charge with no fees incurred.
On 17 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, revealed that the department received directives from Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, to urgently assist citizens whose eligibility for the state welfare card has been revoked.
It was found that most cases stemmed from prior vehicle ownership, vehicles sold without proper registration name changes, or situations where individuals recently discovered they hold vehicle ownership because relatives or descendants used their names to purchase vehicles.
Following the Ministry of Finance's announcement of the 2026 state welfare registration results, the Department of Land Transport conducted vehicle ownership checks and submitted these findings to the Ministry of Finance to assess applicant eligibility under the project conditions, which specify "not owning vehicles except for ownership of only one vehicle per type: motorcycles up to 300cc, three-wheeled vehicles, small four-wheeled passenger vehicles, or agricultural vehicles as defined by the Motor Vehicle Act." However, many applicants failed this criterion due to owning more vehicles than allowed. The Department of Land Transport recommends the following actions:
1. If citizens fail the eligibility criteria and wish to request a review or appeal, they should follow the Ministry of Finance's designated channels from 17-31 Jul 2026 GMT+7 via four methods:
2. For those registered under the project who want to verify their vehicle registration data, they can inquire about vehicle ownership information free of charge. The Department of Land Transport has instructed all provincial transport offices nationwide to assist citizens without charging fees for ownership verification as this service is part of the government's ongoing project.
Those wishing to verify ownership can bring their national ID card or related documents for walk-in service at any provincial or branch transport office nationwide. The Department of Land Transport can accurately verify data using the central database system (MDM). If discrepancies are found, the department will update or correct registration data according to regulations.
Additionally, the Department of Land Transport will monitor and compile citizens' issues to present to relevant agencies for possible solutions. The department is ready to facilitate prompt verification and correction of vehicle registration data to ensure accuracy, enabling citizens to use this information when submitting appeals to protect their rights.
