Summary for new and existing State Welfare Cardholders 2026. All must re-register to receive the electricity bill discount from today until 30 September 2026, with assistance capped at 315 baht per month per household per entitlement.

According to the Ministry of Finance's directive for State Welfare Cardholders to register for electricity bill relief under the 2026 State Welfare Registration Project, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) announced that electricity users in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan wishing to receive this benefit must re-register for the new entitlement starting 20 July 2026.

Conditions for registering electricity bill subsidy with the 2026 State Welfare Card.

  • The government provides up to 315 baht per month in electricity bill assistance.
  • One household (household ID) is entitled to only one subsidy.
  • If electricity usage is no more than 315 baht per month, the subsidy covers the full amount, showing a zero balance on the bill.
  • If usage exceeds 315 baht per month, the beneficiary must pay the full excess amount.
  • No retroactive subsidies are granted.

What must old and new State Welfare Cardholders do?

  • Existing beneficiaries (from the 2022 State Welfare Registration Project) can immediately register for the electricity subsidy with MEA. Those who registered before 19 June 2026 will receive assistance through the August 2026 electricity bill cycle as their final one. After that, re-registration is required under the 2026 welfare project to continue receiving benefits.

  • New beneficiaries, those who have passed rights review, and those who authorized others to verify their identity electronically (e-KYC) and used the welfare benefits on their behalf, must verify their identity at banks designated by the Comptroller General’s Department beforehand, ideally at least one day prior, before registering for the electricity subsidy with MEA.
  • If registration is completed by the end of the month, the first subsidy will apply to the next electricity bill cycle as per conditions (no retroactive benefits).
