A viral video with 7 million views shows a woman attending a Korean artist's concert who claimed that on her way back, a motorcycle taxi driver grabbed her thigh, forcing her to jump off the vehicle. She said she was seriously injured and required nine stitches. This caused great concern among the artist and fans, but security camera checks later revealed a different story.
The story went viral on social media when an X user posted a warning after attending a Korean singer's concert at Muang Thong Thani. She claimed she hailed a motorcycle taxi to a hotel 4 km away but was taken down a secluded route and groped twice on her thigh. Shocked, she said she jumped off the bike, gave the driver 100 baht as a plea for her life, then fled to call a Grab ride to the hospital. She attached photos of wounds reportedly requiring nine stitches and a clip from a dark alley, leading to over 7 million views.
However, netizens noticed inconsistencies: she claimed serious injury but did not file a police report, citing urgency to return to her province. Also, the photo showed only seven stitches, not nine as claimed. A good citizen investigated and found the motorcycle taxi driver, a 56-year-old security guard by profession. They took him to file a police report and review hotel CCTV footage, which showed the woman calmly getting off the bike, paying, and walking into the hotel without injury or jumping off as she claimed.
Recently, the motorcycle taxi driver went to the Pak Kret Police Station after being contacted by the woman's sister to request mediation and compensation.
The motorcycle taxi driver said on the day of the incident he took her via a shortcut along Bang Pood Canal because the main route was an 8 km detour costing 200 baht, while the shortcut was only 2 km and charged 80 baht. The path was very narrow, and if he had let go to grope her, the vehicle would have fallen into the canal.
When they reached the hotel, she paid and even gave a tip. I complimented her, saying she was beautiful and kind, a usual phrase with regular customers. I had no idea I was being criticized online because I don't use social media. When the security center asked me to give a statement, I learned she had mental health issues, so I did not press charges. If I receive any compensation, I plan to donate it to feed animals and help the needy.
After the truth came to light, the woman deleted her account, then reappeared with a new one to apologize sincerely to the motorcycle taxi driver, the artist, and everyone. She affirmed the driver was innocent and did not harass or harm her in any way.
She also admitted that she secretly left home to watch the concert. When the driver took a dark, secluded shortcut without telling her, she became scared and recorded a video. However, due to a lack of judgment and recklessness, she fabricated the story to warn others and seek sympathy, adding false details about being grabbed, jumping off the vehicle, and needing hospital stitches. She did not expect the situation to escalate this far.
Her family has now been informed and has arranged, through the police, to apologize to the motorcycle taxi driver and the good citizen involved. They are willing to take responsibility and provide compensation in full.
