A dead dolphin was found stranded on Thung Tuek Beach in Phang Nga Province. Initial examinations found no external wounds on the body. The carcass was urgently sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
On 22 July 2026, reporters reported that Mr. Suriya Sonserm, Director of Mangrove Forest Conservation Center 10 (Takua Pa, Phang Nga), was contacted by officials at the Siritharn Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center in Phuket. They informed him that local residents had found a dead dolphin stranded on Thung Tuek Beach, Moo 4, Ko Kho Khao Subdistrict, Takua Pa District, Phang Nga Province.
After receiving the notification, Mangrove Forest Conservation Center 10 reported the incident to the Director of Marine and Coastal Resources Office 6. They then deployed officers to the site, where they found the dolphin carcass at coordinates 418064 E, 986826 N. The carcass was decomposing with no external wounds on its body and measured approximately 210 centimeters in length.
Officials proceeded to transport the dolphin carcass and preserve it on ice at Mangrove Forest Conservation Center 10 (Takua Pa, Phang Nga) before handing it over to the Siritharn Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center in Phuket. The carcass will undergo an autopsy to scientifically determine the cause of death. The results will help identify the cause and provide important data for monitoring and conserving rare marine animals in the area going forward.
