On 24 July 2026, the incident sparked online controversy after a Thai woman posted a video showing the event on the BTS. She approached a group of teens, believed to be Italian, who were making loud noises on the train, but was met with rude responses. One male teen in the group showed her the middle finger and used offensive language, mocking her family while laughing.
After the video spread, many Thai netizens commented, mostly criticizing the inappropriate behavior, including manners and language. The situation escalated as some netizens filed complaints through the Italian Embassy in Thailand’s Facebook page, urging an investigation into the conduct.
Recently, the clip’s owner posted on X (@Aaailrq) about the incident: "From the clip that went viral on the black app, I am the original poster and want to share what happened because it was truly unbearable. Around 7 p.m., I was on the BTS Silom Line heading home. Just before Sala Daeng Station, I suddenly heard very loud shouting from outside, even though the train wasn’t stopped yet. I had headphones on but could hear clearly. When I turned to look, I didn’t see what was happening. Once the train stopped, a large group of foreign teens got on, still shouting, playing, and making loud noise throughout the ride. They kept repeating the same words, competing loudly along the way, drawing everyone’s attention in the carriage. The usually quiet atmosphere turned into a noisy chaos. It wasn’t normal talking but so loud it disturbed everyone. Even with music in my headphones, I could hear their noise clearly."
Eventually, I just said, “Could you please be quiet?” After that, what happened is shown in the clip... A woman, possibly a teacher or chaperone, told me, “Just tolerate it; they’re kids. You can’t make kids be quiet.” I replied, “This is Thailand. Try making kids quiet here and you’ll see how quiet our BTS is.” Then that woman said “Fuck you” to me multiple times. I was recording while another group of girls standing near me came over to apologize. I told them I wasn’t angry because they didn’t do anything wrong, just wanted them to tell their friends to lower their voices. But when I was about to get off, some teens started insulting me, telling me to go to the hospital, cursing my parents, and using degrading language.
Even after getting off the train, they knocked on the windows, showed the middle finger, and shouted insults outside. Everything in the clip is only part of the actual event. I am not posting to generalize any nationality because I believe there are many good people. But what I faced today was the behavior of a group disturbing everyone, and those responsible failed to control it. BTS is a public space shared by everyone, whether Thai or tourists. Everyone should respect the rules and be considerate of others. I want this incident to raise questions for both the supervisors and BTS: if they see loud disturbances before boarding, could they act faster to prevent situations escalating like in this clip?"
