The statement said the Embassy of Italy in Thailand expresses deep regret over the incident and strongly condemns the inappropriate behavior of a group of young Italian tourists visiting Thailand on a school study tour, as shown in the video circulating on social media.
The Embassy sincerely apologizes to the Thai people and everyone affected by the discomfort or concern caused by the incident. Italians deeply appreciate the values upheld by Thai society regarding respect for others, politeness, and harmonious coexistence—values that the Italian Republic likewise holds in high regard.
The inappropriate behavior of this group of young tourists does not represent the Italian people overall and cannot be considered reflective of the mutual respect, friendship, and courtesy that form the foundation of the longstanding relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Italian Republic.
