On 4 August 2026, the Facebook pageSuvarnabhumi Airportposted a statement apologizing for the inappropriate behavior of security personnel during their duty to control passengers causing disturbances and violating security measures, confirming disciplinary penalties against the involved staff.
Following the circulation of videos and information on social media regarding the conduct of Suvarnabhumi Airport security officers (Suvarnabhumi Airport), the airport apologizes for the incident and clarifies the facts as follows.
The incident occurred on 29 July 2026 at 11:00 p.m., when a group of Chinese artist fans who were passengers on Thai Airways flight TG 674 from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Beijing followed the artist traveling on the same flight into the passenger lounge area, where they were not authorized to enter. Thai Airways staff contacted security officers to control the situation, who then escorted the fan club members out of the lounge.
The fan club continued following the artist and causing disturbances up to the passenger hold room. At the boarding pass checkpoint, the fan club refused to cooperate with boarding pass verification, attempting to rush to board the aircraft together with the artist. They followed the artist to the jet bridge until the artist boarded the plane. Airline staff temporarily closed the aircraft door to prevent fan club members who had not passed boarding checks and were gathered at the door from entering. Security officers, together with airline staff, pushed the fan club back into the hold room.
Due to these events, the airline decided to deny boarding to 22 fan club members for violating security measures and airline regulations, fearing that the group might cause disturbances onboard that could not be controlled after departure, resulting in flight delays.
However, 12 fan club members agreed to offload their baggage, while 10 refused and showed dissatisfaction with the travel denial, provoking officers during operations, leading to confrontations captured in videos shared on social media. Suvarnabhumi Airport security then transferred custody to airline staff to continue handling.
Although the security officers' intervention aimed to ensure passenger safety and flight operations, the airport admits some security personnel behaved inappropriately and did not meet service standards or comply with airport regulations.
Therefore, Commander Chanannat Rodkul, Security Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, ordered disciplinary action against the officers involved and instructed all staff to adhere strictly to operational standards, control emotions, and treat passengers appropriately in all situations. The airport will review and improve management guidelines and supervision to prevent similar incidents.
Suvarnabhumi Airport apologizes for the incident and assures it will enhance oversight of all personnel to ensure security measures are enforced alongside proper service standards.
