The family has taken the body of “Halun Solo” for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Science. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, revealed that it has been following up with Georgian authorities regarding the causes of previous delays in the process.
Regarding the ongoing updates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, also known as “Halun Solo,”
Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitiket, Director-General of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that this morning (6 August 2026), the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs assigned Ms. Prateungtip Siriwites, Acting Director-General of the Consular Department, to represent the ministry in facilitating the reception of Mr. Bowornthat’s body, who died in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 14 July 2026.
Since learning of the case, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, has been closely coordinating with Mr. Bowornthat’s family and Georgian authorities, as well as involved parties. Embassy officials were dispatched immediately to the location to expedite coordination with Georgian officials regarding the investigation into the cause of death, the procedures for repatriating Mr. Bowornthat’s body to Thailand, and to continuously inquire with Georgian authorities about the causes of past delays.
Today, the family will take Mr. Bowornthat’s body for forensic examination before bringing it back to conduct religious ceremonies in his hometown, Somdet District, Kalasin Province.
