The family has sent the body of “Hlun Solo” for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Science, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, revealed it has been following up with Georgian authorities regarding the reasons for the delays.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been continuously providing updates on the case of Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, also known as “Hlun Solo,”
Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitikaset, Director-General of the Information Department and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that this morning (6 August 2026), the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs assigned Ms. Pratuengtip Siriwithet, Acting Director-General of the Consular Affairs Department, to facilitate the receipt of Mr. Bowornthat’s body, who passed away in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 14 July 2026.
Since learning of the case, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, has closely coordinated with Mr. Bowornthat’s family and Georgian authorities, as well as other involved parties. Embassy officials were immediately dispatched to the area to expedite coordination with Georgian authorities concerning the investigation into the cause of death, the procedures for repatriating Mr. Bowornthat’s body to Thailand, and to continuously follow up on the reasons for delays with Georgian officials.
Today, the family will submit Mr. Bowornthat’s body for forensic examination before proceeding with religious ceremonies in his hometown, Somdet District, Kalasin Province.
