Tatsaneem Thubkam, a local executive at Pate Subdistrict Municipality, shared that her bright makeup is a personal preference she has maintained for more than 10 years to boost her confidence at work and asked people to focus on her performance.
Regarding the case involving the fan pageof Pate Subdistrict Municipality, Yaha District,which published photos from a meeting to consider the annual budget ordinance for 2027 and the three-year manpower plan for 2027-2029 on 3 Aug 2023, revealing striking images of a local official in a khaki uniform attending the meeting wearing bright and beautiful makeup, drawing significant attention on social media.
Recently (6 Aug 2023), reporters visited Pate Subdistrict Municipality, located in Village No. 6, Pate Subdistrict, Yaha District, Yala Province, to meet the female official featured on social media. She was identified as Tatsaneem Thubkam, head of the administration division and acting head of the municipal secretary's office. She arrived for work as usual, wearing colorful makeup, and participated in the meeting.
Tatsaneem Thubkam said that day was a Pate municipality meeting where she oversaw publicity work. Every event photo and information had to be reviewed before release. Her own photo had brightness adjusted to reduce visible skin imperfections.
Over time, the event photos attracted significant social media interest, with many likes, shares, and comments, rapidly increasing reach. However, many comments were negative, criticizing features such as eyebrows and eyelashes. She responded by asking those wishing to comment to follow her personal Facebook instead, to avoid affecting the official municipal page, which she felt was more appropriate.
She said makeup is a personal hobby she has practiced for over 10 years since mascara fashion started. Because eyelashes are both upper and lower, applying mascara only on the upper lashes disadvantaged the lower ones, so she applied on both, resulting in a nice look. She began liking it since then and considered it normal, not expecting such extensive online reactions. She views it as normal and did not anticipate the social media buzz.

Her makeup routine starts in the morning with cream, powder, eyebrow shaping—sometimes hurried, resulting in uneven eyebrows—then mascara on upper and lower lashes, eyeliner, and finally lipstick. Today she felt she looked nice. On weekends, she does not wear makeup and lets her skin rest. Wearing bright makeup at work and meeting people boosts her confidence and helps her work and interact well with colleagues. She asked social media users to focus on work and dedication rather than appearance and to change their perspective when viewing official pages.
Boonchai Deelertpaiboon, permanent secretary of Pate Municipality, Yaha District, Yala Province, said Tatsaneem has been a lovely colleague since day one, dedicated to her work and skilled in documentation, especially academically based tasks. She played a key role in the recent mayoral election operations, achieving goals and receiving awards from Yala's Election Commission. Additionally, she organized the municipality's security duty roster, which was previously unstructured, and follows up on it. She also advises junior staff on routine tasks.
Regarding personal matters, from the first day Tatsaneem reported for duty, her dress and makeup were normal and accepted by everyone. No one criticized her because the mayor, Amsar Srisombat, always tells all municipal staff to live with mutual respect and honor, setting an example for all.
Tatsaneem works happily here. The team is united with no divisions. The mayor and management have discussed the situation and believe it benefits the municipality.
The mayor had long planned to raise the municipality's social media profile. Tatsaneem has helped spread the municipal page across various groups, now reaching over 10 million views. This exposure helps promote municipal activities. They invite everyone to follow the page. Additionally, many tourist attractions are being promoted, with Tatsaneem serving as a liaison for publicity.
Nevertheless, Pate Municipality strives to fulfill all duties within its authority. Its projects cover almost every dimension, including public utilities and infrastructure. The municipality has seen considerable development and welcomes visitors.
Currently, infrastructure such as water supply, roads, and transportation is nearly 100% complete. The development approach emphasizes flowing water, bright lighting, and good roads as guidelines for Pate Subdistrict's progress. The municipality asks people nationwide to follow its page and support its work. Although Pate is in a risk area, there have been no recent incidents. They hope to one day welcome visitors from all directions warmly and gladly.
