On 7 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that a Grade 9 student opened fire on teachers and students at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi, resulting in six deaths including the suspect, and about 21 injured. When authorities inspected the suspect's home to investigate the cause, they found two more deceased individuals—the suspect's grandfather, shot in the kitchen, and grandmother, shot in the bedroom—believed to have been killed before the suspect went to school, as previously reported.
Among the deceased was Mr. Kittipong Somrat, Deputy Director for Discipline. On social media, many expressed condolences, such as “R.I.P. dear brother,” mourning the shooting at Thepsirin School and the loss of the deputy director, a dedicated teacher who gave selflessly. Messages wished his spirit peace in the afterlife and assured that family would be cared for. Others honored his bravery in protecting students until his death, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, and paid respects to his sacrifice and teachings.
Reports state that during the incident, Mr. Pong (Mr. Kittipong) tried to protect the students and ensure their safety before being fatally shot.
Mr. Kittipong’s wife posted a deeply sad message: “This must be the day my heart shattered the most. Suddenly, I was forced to become the ‘head of the family’ without a single question asked if I was ready. I wish I could extend my time by 15 more years beyond 60. You were an amazing SuperDad. Rest peacefully, my love. Our children and I are so proud of you. I’m only now understanding this pain. I can’t even bring myself to hug yet. #ThepsirinNonthaburi”
