The Meteorological Department issued Announcement No. 10 warning several provinces to be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain, flash floods, and flash floods affecting 8-9 August 2026.
On 8 August 2026, the Meteorological Department announced strong winds over the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, and heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand (effective 8-9 August 2026), Announcement No. 10 (152/2569).
It stated that some areas in Thailand, especially in the northern and northeastern regions, will experience heavy to very heavy rain due to a monsoon trough crossing the upper north and upper Laos, combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public is urged to beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and flash floods, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands.
The upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have fairly strong winds with waves 2-3 meters high; in thunderstorm areas, waves may exceed 3 meters. Mariners in these seas should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are advised not to depart until 9 August 2026.
