Don't forget to stop by to refill: PTT and Bangchak announce a price increase for fuel prices for all types of gasoline, gasohol, and diesel by 0.85 baht per liter, excluding premium GSH95, premium GSH99, and premium diesel, which remain unchanged. The change takes effect at 5 AM tomorrow, 12 August 2026 GMT+7.
On 11 August 2026 GMT+7, the Oil Fund Management Committee (OFMC) approved a retail fuel price hike of 0.85 baht per liter effective 12 August 2026. This increase is due to stalled negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding a full agreement to ease tensions and reopen shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides failed to agree on terms and demands, raising concerns over potential disruptions to global crude oil transportation.
This has caused global oil prices to rise steadily, pushing diesel prices in the Singapore market sharply above 160 U.S. dollars per barrel on 11 August 2026 GMT+7, while gasoline prices surged over 116 U.S. dollars per barrel. The situation also impacted the Oil Fund's liquidity, which must cover approximately 343 million baht per day in compensation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to reduce this burden to maintain the fund's liquidity for long-term price stability amid volatile global fuel markets.
Meanwhile, reporters note that PTT Station and Bangchak Corporation (BCP) have announced retail price increases for all gasoline and gasohol types by 0.85 baht per liter, except premium GSH95 and premium GSH99 which remain unchanged. Diesel prices will also rise by 0.85 baht per liter, excluding premium diesel which stays the same. These changes take effect at 5:00 AM on 12 August 2026 GMT+7, resulting in the following latest prices.
