Passing of Phra Phrom Wachiradilok, Abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun, Peacefully Ends

On 12 Aug 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that Phra Phrom Wachiradilok (Saman Sumetho), abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun, a royal monastery in Khon Kaen, passed away peacefully at a sterile residence at Wat Pa Saeng Arun at midnight on 12 Aug 2026 GMT+7.

The schedule for the royal bathing ceremony of Phra Phrom Wachiradilok (Saman Sumetho, Pali studies degree) abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun, royal monastery, and advisor to the 9th ecclesiastical region (Dhammayut), will be held on Thursday, 13 August 2026 GMT+7 at the Sumetho 79 multipurpose hall, Wat Pa Saeng Arun, in Phra Lap subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen district, Khon Kaen province.

At 13:00, the body of Phra Phrom Wachiradilok will be brought to the Sumetho 79 multipurpose hall.

From 13:30 to 16:00, senior monks, monks, novices, and lay devotees may pour water over the body.

At 17:00, the royal bathing ceremony will be graciously bestowed.

• Ten monks of ecclesiastical rank will perform the merit-making ritual of placing the funeral urn cover.
• Four officiating monks will chant the Buddhist funeral rites.
• The ceremony will then conclude.
