September 2026 Holidays: Planning Your Vacation Leave for Extended Time Off Without Impacting Work

September 2026 holidays: Open your calendar to plan vacation leave, create your own long breaks, along with tips for submitting leave without affecting work.

September 2026 which many refer to as “the month of intense work” for salaried employees and company staff, because it is one of the few months on the calendar without any public holidays, bank holidays, or official holidays (excluding weekends).

Don’t be discouraged. Even though the calendar shows no holidays, you can plan to create "your own days off" by using “vacation leave” and with good time management, you can enjoy several days of rest and travel.

Strategy to create a full 4-day long holiday

Early month (4-7 September 2026)

  • Vacation leave: Friday, 4 September and Monday, 7 September 2026

Second week of the month (11-14 September 2026)

  • Vacation leave: Friday, 11 September and Monday, 14 September 2026

Mid-month (18-21 September 2026)

  • Vacation leave: Friday, 18 September and Monday, 21 September 2026

Late month (25-28 September 2026)

  • Vacation leave: Friday, 25 September and Monday, 28 September 2026

For those unable to take 2 days off for a 4-day break, you can choose to take 1 day of vacation leave on either "Friday" or "Monday" to have a 3-day break. Ultimately, the pattern of taking leave depends on the rules set by each organization and company, so be sure to check carefully.

Tips for submitting leave without impacting work

  • Submit your leave request at least 2-3 weeks in advance to help your team arrange coverage more easily.
  • Choose times that do not coincide with deadlines, and avoid periods of budget finalization or month-end closing for the company.
  • Clear any pending work and clearly assign important tasks to your teammates before leaving.
