Meteorological Department Reports Three Storms Forming in Western Pacific with No Direct Threat to Thailand

The Meteorological Department has detected three storms forming in the western Pacific Ocean, but none are expected to move directly into Thailand.

On 24 August 2026, Mr. Surapong Sarapa, Director of the Weather Forecasting Division and Deputy Spokesperson for the Meteorological Department, stated that the current storm situation in the Pacific Ocean includes no storms moving directly towards Thailand.

However, Tropical Storm Narra, located in the Gulf of Tonkin, is expected to make landfall in southern Guangxi Province, China, between 24–25 August 2026. This storm indirectly affects Thailand's weather, causing heavy rain in some areas, especially in the northern, upper northeastern, central, and eastern regions.

Meanwhile, the Facebook pageof the Meteorological Departmentposted that on 24 August 2026, three storms were identified forming in the western Pacific, namely

• Tropical Storm Narra,
• Tropical Storm Canary,
• and Typhoon Soudelor.

From tracking their paths, none of these three storms are expected to move into Thailand. The public is advised to check weather conditions before traveling for safety.
