Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Emphasizes No Document Copies Needed for Flood Relief, Coordinates with Provinces to Ease Burden on Victims

"Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" emphasizes "flood relief" does not require document copies; coordinating with all provinces to reduce procedures and lessen the burden on victims

Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that the recent flood situation has impacted people's lives, property, housing, agricultural areas, and public utilities. The government, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, has reiterated guidelines to facilitate assistance and reduce the burden on affected citizens.

The directive is to cancel the requirement for citizens to submit copies of their ID cards, house registrations, or other official documents issued by the government in cases related to disaster relief for affected people. This is to provide aid and recovery under the responsibilities and powers of agencies according to related laws, regulations, and criteria. This follows the practices of the Department of Local Administration and the Department of Provincial Administration, which previously issued orders to cancel requests for copies of ID cards, house registrations, and other documents, consistent with the Thailand 4.0 policy.

Therefore, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has coordinated with governors of all provinces to cancel requests for copies of ID cards, house registrations, or other official documents from citizens in cases related to disaster relief. District offices and local administrative organizations within their jurisdictions are instructed to verify the accuracy of victim information through their own databases to prevent duplication, fraud, and omissions.

This measure aims to facilitate faster assistance and relief for affected citizens, reduce the time and procedural steps involved, and importantly, avoid adding any burden to disaster victims, in line with government policy.
