The Department of Corrections announced Nang Rong Prison has temporarily suspended family visits for one month specifically in the reception area and Zone 1 after inmates tested positive for infection. COVID-19 Visits in other zones remain open as usual.
On 1 September 2026, it was reported thatthe Department of Correctionsissued a notice that Nang Rong District Prison has temporarily suspended family visits only in the reception and Zone 1 areas, which house newly admitted inmates, to strictly enforce quarantine and surveillance measures against the coronavirus (COVID-19) and other diseases. Visits in other zones continue as normal.
The Department received reports from Nang Rong Prison that on 30 August 2026, prison nurses conducted screening of newly admitted inmates using Antigen Test Kits (ATK) and found several inmates positive for COVID-19, all without severe symptoms.
The prison coordinated with the main hospital for close patient care while enforcing strict monitoring, prevention, and control measures to stop the outbreak. Consequently, the suspension of family visits in the reception and Zone 1 areas is effective from 31 August to 30 September 2026.
However, families can still deposit money and send packages to inmates as usual. The Department of Corrections will continue to monitor the situation and supervise inmate care closely to ensure the safety of inmates, staff, and visitors.
