
The 2nd Army Region announced the loss of a service member Volunteer Ranger Chokmongkol Khemrathong died while performing his duty to protect and maintain sovereignty at the Phu Sela operational base from acute heart failure, affirming full support for welfare and his family.
On 5 August 2026, the Facebook page of the 2nd Army Region posted a message expressing their deepest condolences on this loss of personnel.
On 4 September 2026, at approximately 16:00, Volunteer Ranger Chokmongkol Khemrathong, aged 34, serving as a Private First Class in Ranger Company 2308, was found dead inside the Phu Sela operational base. Preliminary autopsy results indicated the cause of death as acute heart failure.
His unit sent the body to Nam Yuen Hospital for a more detailed autopsy.
The 2nd Army Region will provide full support regarding rights, welfare, and assistance to the family.
Subsequently, the Facebook page of the 11th Ranger Regiment posted a tribute, stating: "We honor the brave hero of Phu Khok Yai, Hill 754, who passed away from heart failure while defending and maintaining sovereignty. We extend our condolences to the bereaved family."
