Prepare for Increased Rainfall: Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain Risks Across Several Regions Including Bangkok from 8-11 Sep 2026

Prepare for rainfall as the Meteorological Department warns that from 8-11 September 2026, Thailand will see increased rain due to a passing monsoon trough and strengthening monsoon winds. Several regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, face a high risk of very heavy rain.

On 5 September 2026, the official Facebook page of the Meteorological Department posted: "Prepare for heavy rain from 8–11 September 2026. Rain increases as a monsoon trough passes and monsoon winds strengthen, posing a risk of very heavy rain in several regions including Bangkok and its vicinity."

  • Areas at risk of heavy to very heavy rain Include the central and lower northeastern regions, central region, eastern region, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the western side of the southern region.
  • Areas expected to receive less rain Include the upper northern region and the upper northeastern region.

Be cautious of dangers from flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, and landslides, especially in foothill areas and near various waterways.
