Sad Farewell to Phang Bua Sawan, Elephant Bedridden for Over 8 Years, Patient at Krabi Elephant Hospital Passes Away

Krabi Elephant Hospital announced sad news Phang Bua Sawan The elephant, who was bedridden after an accident, has passed away following over eight years of care by the hospital staff.

On 8 September 2026, the Facebook pageKrabi Elephant Hospitalposted images along with a message stating that Krabi Elephant Hospital’s conservation division wishes to inform everyone that Phang Bua Sawan the long-term bedridden patient under their care, passed away on 6 September 2026.

Phang Bua Sawan was an elephant who suffered a spinal injury from an accident, resulting in paralysis of all four legs and bedridden status for more than eight years. Throughout this time, the Krabi Elephant Hospital team provided full care.

The preliminary cause of death from the autopsy showed internal organ failure. Additional samples have been sent to the laboratory for further testing. Once the exact cause of death is confirmed, the hospital will update everyone.

Krabi Elephant Hospital thanks everyone for their support, including medicines, medical supplies, necessities, as well as the love and encouragement given to Phang Bua Sawan over the years.
