
Clear confirmation “Thai Chuey Thai Plus Phase 2” is being prepared for Cabinet consideration to approve a two-month extension, while holders of the “ state welfare card” now have an answer on whether they qualify
On 18 Sep 2026, regarding the Ministry of Finance's plan to propose an extension of the Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40 measure for Cabinet approval, using existing budget funds. The extension is expected to last two months, maintaining the same spending format.
Lawaran Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and chair of the committee overseeing the use of loan funds under the 2026 Energy Crisis and Transition Emergency Decree, with a budget of 400 billion baht, stated that the meeting approved extending the Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40 measure beyond the original end date of 30 Sep 2026. The proposal will be submitted to the Finance Minister to present to the Cabinet for approval. Whether the extension proceeds depends on the Ministry of Finance.
However, once the government extends the Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40 measure, eligible citizens must also fund state welfare cardholders. This will be based on approximately 9.5 million state welfare card registrants who meet the qualifications. (Approximately 5 million applications are under review for eligibility.) These beneficiaries will receive rights starting from 1 Oct 2026 onward.
Those who do not qualify for the state welfare card will still receive Thai Chuey Thai Plus benefits.Further details are awaited on whether additional registration will be required or if benefits can be claimed directly through the Pao Tang app.
Unused monthly balances cannot be carried over to the next month.
