The main reason is the renewed outbreak of the Middle East war crisis, which severely impacts global energy prices.
The government urgently needs to implement measures to support consumer purchasing power, using a budget of 43 billion baht drawn from over 44 billion baht remaining of the initial 200-billion-baht loan program. Assistance is divided into two main groups: state welfare card holders will receive an additional 700 baht top-up on top of the existing 300 baht, totaling 1,000 baht; and participants in the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program will receive 1,000 baht to continue their benefits for two more months.
