Popular Trend of Malai Rad Klao at Pak Khlong Talat Revives Flower Market

The social media hit trend "Malai Rad Klao," a floral hair bun with hanging flower clusters at Pak Khlong Talat, has made the flower market lively again. Vendors say both Thai and foreign tourists are lining up tightly for hairstyling.

On 23 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Thairath TV reporters visited Pak Khlong Talat, the most famous flower market in Thailand, following a social media trend of styling hair with floral buns for stylish photos, featuring hanging flower clusters that charmingly reflect Thai culture.

The visit found both Thai and foreign tourists waiting in line for hair styling while holding floral garlands prepared in advance. The garlands matched the outfits and colors worn, with the most popular colors being rose, pink, white, and blue.

Meanwhile, the vendors at Pak Khlong Talat busily sold flowers and offered free hairstyling to tourists. Some said the trend started just 2-3 days ago; initially, they didn’t know how to style hair but now have become skilled enough to do all styles, whether for short or long hair.

The reporters spoke with "Khun Jeda," a freelance hairstylist helping tourists at Pak Khlong Talat for the second day. She said the trend of floral hair buns is cute and showcases Thai culture to foreigners. Initially, she planned to bring mirrors to flower shops she knew but, seeing tourists packed at every shop with hair styling in high demand, she decided to assist. She expressed gratitude for the trend, which revived the once quiet Pak Khlong market.

Ms. Malinee Korcharoensomboon, owner of Ked Malai shop at Pak Khlong Talat, said that previously there was a trend of holding lotus flower bouquets and wearing traditional shoulder cloths for photos, which also brought some activity. But after influencers posted clips wearing floral hair buns on social media, many Thai and foreign tourists came to buy flowers and request hairstyling. Despite continuous rain, tourists still waited to have their hair styled to take souvenir photos at various tourist spots.

Ms. Malinee added that the social media trend helped sustain vendors at Pak Khlong Talat after a period of downturn. Tourists are not only buying flowers but also food, clothing, and drinks, boosting overall sales.

Tourists said they saw this trend on social media and were very impressed because it is charming. They hope such trends reflecting Thai beauty appear frequently and also invite both Thai people and tourists to join this popular trend to collectively showcase Thai identity.

Recently, social media has widely circulated a new wave of Thai-style beauty going viral, with the "Malai Rad Klao" trend gaining popularity among celebrities, influencers, and well-known figures alike.
