The case drew heavy criticism online after images circulated showing traffic police officers in the Metropolitan Police Bureau area setting up traffic discipline checkpoints amid flooding in Bangkok.
Regarding this matter, on 29 Sep 2026, reporters noted that the Facebook page of Chokchai Metropolitan Police Station posted a statement saying that a Facebook user had spread photos of Chokchai traffic police officers setting up a checkpoint on social media.
Chokchai Police clarified that the area pictured is still flooded and no checkpoint was set up as shown, emphasizing that such actions would certainly not add hardship to the public.
This case involves submitting false information that damages Chokchai Metropolitan Police Station's reputation. The station is considering legal action against the Facebook user under Section 14 of the Computer Crime Act, which carries penalties of up to 5 years imprisonment, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
