The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) warned that the Chao Phraya Dam will increase water discharge to 2,200 cubic meters per second, causing the Chao Phraya River level to rise by 1 to 1.2 meters in riverside areas of Pa Mok, Wiset Chai Chan, Mueang Ang Thong, and Chaiyo districts, Ang Thong Province, urging residents to move belongings to higher ground.
On 29 September 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) warned that the Chao Phraya Dam would increase water discharge to 2,200 cubic meters per second, raising the river level by 1 to 1.2 meters. This will affect both sides of the Chao Phraya River and its tributaries in Pa Mok, Wiset Chai Chan, Mueang Ang Thong, and Chaiyo districts. Residents living near the river are advised to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, and care for vulnerable groups. For assistance, they should contact village headmen, community leaders, or local officials.
DDPM, in cooperation with mobile network providers AIS, True, and NT, has sent warnings via Cell Broadcast messages to alert residents in riverside areas of Pa Mok, Wiset Chai Chan, Mueang Ang Thong, and Chaiyo districts in Ang Thong Province about the rising water levels of the Chao Phraya River.
Residents can report incidents and request help through the Line account “DDPM Incident Reporting 1784” by adding Line ID @1784DDPM or by calling the 24-hour DDPM emergency hotline at 1784.
Meanwhile, reporters noted that the Ang Thong Provincial Public Relations Office posted a message advising people not to panic.
The water discharge of 2,200 cubic meters per second downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam will not cause the riverside in Ang Thong to rise by 1 to 1.2 meters because there is a water gate above Ang Thong that divides the flow left and right. The water level along the Chao Phraya riverside in Ang Thong will increase by an average of only 30 centimeters.
