Asst. Prof. Sitang Pilailar Updates Todays Water Situation: Mae Klong Most Severe, Flowing Downstream to Receiving Provinces

"Asst. Prof. Sitang Pilailar" A professor in the Department of Water Resources Engineering updates today's water situation as most severe at "Mae Klong" Comparable to the year 1982, warning that many dams are near full capacity and advising provinces at risk of receiving water to choose to lift belongings, relocate, or evacuate.

On 30 Sep 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitang Pilailar, a professor in the Department of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, posted on her personal Facebook page Sitang Pilailar to update information on rain and flooding on 30/9/69.

She stated that today's heaviest situation is at the Mae Klong river, affecting Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, and parts of Suphan Buri and Nakhon Pathom receiving water from Mae Klong. At noon today, discharge will be 2,500 cubic meters per second... The situation is as severe as in 1982. Lift / relocate / evacuate—choose how to manage yourself!

• In Prachinburi, floodwater currently inundating the area will rise another half meter. Areas including Ban Sang in Prachinburi and Chachoengsao, originally including Bang Khla and Khlong Khuean, will remain heavily affected... It may take about a week to resolve. Choose to lift belongings higher / relocate / evacuate.

** Note: Patients are already being relocated from Abhaibhubejhr Hospital. ** Find evacuation centers by checking news within the provinces.

• Several dams are at or near 100% capacity, such as Pasak, Kaeng Krachan, Khun Dan, and Vajiralongkorn, requiring water release. Riversides and tourist raft areas should manage themselves, removing themselves from riverside areas and lifting belongings higher. Areas previously flooded will flood again this time.
• In Phetchaburi, water has overflowed the drainage structure but has not yet reached the city proper. Riverside areas should consider lifting or relocating.
• As for Chao Phraya Dam, discharge of 2,500 cubic meters per second is certain and may reach 2,800. An update will be given this afternoon... Riverside areas, Bang Ban, and Bang Sai districts, relocate if possible.
