Summary: How to Apply for Flood Relief Funds in 2026, Eligibility, and Amounts

Opening the channels for applying to receive "2026 Flood Relief" funds: if your home was flooded, where can you apply and how much can you get? Check the latest conditions and amounts per channel.

If you are currently affected by flooding, regardless of your province, once the water recedes, don’t forget to apply for flood relief funds provided by various agencies. Thairath Online summarizes the available channels.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has opened registration to receive relief funds of 9,000 baht.

The DDPM announced the opening of registration for disaster relief funds for permanent residences affected by flooding between 15 May and 30 September 2026, covering 65 provinces and Bangkok. Each household will receive 9,000 baht, with one payment per household under specified conditions.

Criteria for flood relief payment consideration

1. Cases where permanent residences were flooded for no more than 7 days and property was damaged.

2. Cases where flooding lasted continuously for more than 7 days.

3. Cases where permanent residences were surrounded by water, impacting normal living for more than 7 consecutive days.

4. Cases where permanent residences in high-rise buildings were not flooded on the occupied floor but living was disrupted for more than 7 consecutive days.

Applicants must reside in areas officially declared disaster zones or emergency relief areas. Relief is given once per household, covering registered homes, rental homes (with tenants receiving the funds), and other permanent residences even without registration.

There are two channels to submit applications for assistance.

1. Register via the "Government Channel" application. The system links to the civil registration database for instant verification, and applicants can track status in real time. Registration opened from 2 October 2026 at 8:00 AM.

2. Submit documents in person. At local administrative organizations or district offices in Bangkok, where staff will assist in entering data into the system.

National catastrophe insurance coverage begins 1 October 2026.

Following the Cabinet’s approval of the “National Catastrophe Insurance System” principle, the government will purchase insurance for citizens covering 30 million households nationwide, including Bangkok, against three disaster types: floods, storms, and earthquakes. Coverage begins at 00:00 on 1 October 2026, enabling quick compensation when disasters occur.

Compensation payment criteria

Initial compensation guidelines are as follows:

  • For housing flood damage, the insurance system pays an initial amount of 10,000 baht per household per event.
  • For storms or earthquakes, an initial payment of 5,000 baht per household per event is provided.
  • Compensation payments are made within 15 days, with additional payments based on actual damage, capped at 100,000 baht per household per event.
  • For life coverage, in cases of death from insured disasters, the system pays 2,000,000 baht per person.

Channels for filing insurance claims for both policy types

Claim filing steps for residences insured per household, linked with the Department of Provincial Administration and DDPM systems.

Upon disaster declaration, victims or their representatives should prepare initial information, including photos of damage, proof of ownership, and PromptPay account details to receive compensation.
