The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Government Savings Bank have completed transferring the allocated flood relief funds totaling more than 5.225 billion baht and are preparing to propose the government increase the budget by 10.508 billion baht to continue assisting flood victims.
On 17 October 2026, the DDPM announced the results of disbursing flood relief funds for the 2026 rainy season in line with the Cabinet’s resolution. The DDPM and Government Savings Bank have transferred relief payments to the public according to the government’s allocated budget and are preparing to request additional funds to continue aiding remaining victims.
Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Director-General of the DDPM, stated that under the government’s directive by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, the DDPM was assigned to manage the budget for flood relief payments during the 2026 rainy season. These payments, at rates of 9,000 and 7,000 baht per household, cover affected residents in 66 provinces and Bangkok for flooding occurring between 15 May and 30 September 2026. The total allocated budget was 5.2816556 billion baht, which the DDPM has fully transferred to the Government Savings Bank for onward payment to citizens.
Currently, the DDPM and Government Savings Bank have successfully transferred relief funds to 683,286 households, totaling 5.225 billion baht. In Bangkok alone, 248,643 households have received payments amounting to 1.784 billion baht. There remains 66 million baht of the allocated budget, and transfers have been completed in 46 provinces.
To ensure continuous support for flood victims, the DDPM is preparing to propose to the Cabinet a budget increase for 2026 flood relief to comprehensively cover all eligible citizens. The proposal to expand the budget by an additional 10.508 billion baht will be submitted for Cabinet consideration on 20 October 2026.
“The Prime Minister has instructed that if the current relief budget is insufficient, the DDPM should immediately request additional government support. Today, the DDPM and Government Savings Bank have disbursed relief funds according to the allocated budget and will propose the Cabinet expand this budget to continue providing aid, ensuring no citizen is left without assistance,” said Nirat, Director-General of the DDPM.
