The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has received an additional 8.407 billion baht for flood relief. The funds have been transferred to the Government Savings Bank, which will begin disbursing money to the public tomorrow, 23 Oct 2026.
On 22 October 2026, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthithavorn, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, announced that the Cabinet approved on 20 October 2026 an additional budget framework of 10,508,876,400 baht for assistance to flood victims during the 2026 rainy season. This funding comes from the 2027 fiscal year central budget under the emergency reserve fund to aid 1,481,401 households affected between 15 May and 30 September 2026.
Yesterday (21 October 2026), the Bureau of the Budget allocated funds to provide additional flood relief for the 2026 rainy season, supplementing previous Cabinet-approved allocations. The Bureau transferred the first installment of 8,407,101,000 baht to the DDPM.
Today (22 October 2026), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation transferred the entire amount received from the Bureau of the Budget to the Government Savings Bank, so the bank can immediately disburse the funds to flood victims.
The DDPM will send flood victim data received from provinces and Bangkok to the Government Savings Bank this evening. The bank will then gradually transfer compensation payments to citizens whose information is complete and whose national ID numbers are linked to their bank accounts via PromptPay starting tomorrow (23 October 2026) from 11:00 a.m. onward, including on public holidays.
Eligible recipients are advised to verify the accuracy of their personal and bank account information to ensure smooth and uninterrupted transfers.
